This vitiates Vata dosha which in turn vitiates pitta, causing an imbalance in the ideal functioning of the nervous system.  Depression is classified by the dominant dosha as follows:

Vata-induced depression: Anxiety, fear, insomnia, and uneasiness. It gets serious with loneliness.

Pitta-Induced Depression – Mistakes or failures cause wrath and depression.. It sometimes leads to suicidal tendencies. Success addicts may experience moderate depression. It is more frequent in the winter and is sometimes seasonal.

Kapha-induced depression causes weightiness. It causes tiredness, fat, and feeling wasted.
